The New Madison Branch rail trail passes through the central Maine towns of Oakland, Fairfield, Norridgewock, Madison, Anson, North Anson, and Embden. Snowmobilers will connect to the ITS through the new route. This new trail, connects to the Kennebec Rail Bed.
The current Kennebec scenic rail trail travels along the wooded banks of the Kennebec River between Solon and Bingham, offering great views of the river along the way. The multi-use trail is made of crushed stone and is flat making it a good choice for beginner riders. The trail is also open for OHV use so be prepared to encounter them along the trail.
as of 2024, there is a park in Ride in Norridgewock. We have used the Park in Ride at Griswold’s in Solon, and next to 201 Power Sports in Bingham. Griswold’s has been doing a great job of keeping there side lot plowed and overs a great breakfast.
In Bingham, you can go towards the windmills for great views, up to the forks for gas and food.
Or in Madison, you can head towards Kingfield, North New Portland and beyond.
This new trail connects Oakland, Fairfield, Norridgewock, Madison, Anson, North Anson, Embden, and Madison, to points north.
