Commemorating the flight of the Double Eagle II, the first manned hot-air balloon to make a Trans-Atlantic crossing. The park was created on the exact site from which Ben Abruzzo, Maxie Anderson, and Larry Newman launched their balloon in 1978; the balloon landed in Miseray, France. The flight of the Double Eagle II has been a prominent exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Air and Space Museum.
